I downloaded Virtual Dub 1.3C because I read in the How to Edit section of this site that it can be used to join ASF files.

But, when I try to use it I get the following message:

Can't locate decompressor for format (MP43) Microsoft High Speed MPEG-4V3

Plus if I try to load a WMF file I get this message:

Can't locate decompressor for format WMV1 (unknown)

    What is going on

I have no problem playing the files using Media Player.

So, is Virtual Dub a Dud

Or do I need to download something else/or try to find the necessary decompressor(s) on my compter to get it to work.

Thanks for the help, but, now I have another problem.

In the instructions for Virtual Dub it states that I should used the - Append video segment command under File to start joining ASF files.

But the Append video segment is grayed out and can't be used

    What do I do now

  3. "append video segment" only works with AVI files. you'd have to export or frameserve both clips to another session of VDub. all specs must be the same (framerate, audio, samplerate, etc.)
