I'm trying to put about 20-25 seconds of video into this picture. I was going to go frame by frame adding them in with paint but want some thing faster.

Hi there,
what software do you have around ? If you have premiere 6+ around you can load your image on one timeline then load the video on another and use the transform, (distort ?) tool to resize it into the box. You could also use editstudio, (which used to be free), and allows you to do the same thing.
Cheers

What are you using to edit video ? Are you trying to create DVD or just file ?

I believe Ulead Video Studio will do it very easily.
On the timeline you have your main Video stream, and a secondary stream which you can scale & place (and set transparency etc).
The only thing I am not 100% certain of is whether you can choose the exact location or whether you are forced to use one of 9 set locations, but you can certain scale it to the size you want. The glass is neither half-full, nor half-empty.
It is simply twice as big as it needs to be. -
With Ulead VideoStudio 7 (trial) you can select custom (Anchor at user defined position) position and size (from 10% to 400%) of overlayed video.

in vegas it takes about 1 sec with the little picture on top line and and big pic on line below and apply 3dLE plug in (comes free w/ vegas) ..
to top line and align it how ever you want .
im doing one right now ..
you can do as many as you like . even picture in picture in picture -
If you don't have access to premier etc, I think Avisynth can do it quite easily as well.

That makes this a free and extremely easy to implement solution. No manual or instruction required - I am yet to need one for the few times I have use it. You may still want to consider this if the others start involving more steps than a couple of drag-and-drop and a few clicks. The glass is neither half-full, nor half-empty.

OR you can go with Vegas Video's little brother Video Factory which will do this for you and cost you only around $60. A very good investment!

how do i set the white area to be transparent? after that i want to scale the video down to fint in that area. oh this will be hard. i think i'll just cut and paster a scaled down image of the video in the picture frame by frame.

Just put picture in video track and video in overlay track and change size and position. Video will play on top of your picture. It should be easy.
