What am I doing wrong? Once I've demuxed a VOB file with DVD2AVI, I get a clean AC3 audio file, but the .d2v video file is a tiny little thing of only a few hundred KB. Furthermore, what do I do with the resulting .d2v file anyway? Contrary to the instructions in one of DVDRHELP's guides, TMPGEnc refuses to recognize .d2v files.

  2. The DVD2AVI .d2v acts as a pointer to the VOB files. When you open the Audio and Video in TEMPGnc, the video portion (.d2v ) will "Point" to the VOB's. The same principle will apply if your doing a frame save with any of the processing program. I'm not up to speed on all that the other programs will do with the .d2v file. Just keep in mind that it's a "Ponter" so don't worry about the file size. Hope this helps.

In the DVD2AVI folder is a file called dvd2avi.vfp
Place a copy of this file in the same folder that TMPGEnc.exe is in.
    This will fix your problem.

  4. Thanks scottb721, I mis-read the question, at least part of it.....I always throught that when you installed the newest versions of TEMPGEnc, it would add that to the proper folder, that's something I wil double check each time I load.........always learn something each time I come on line...thansk again

Many thanks for the advice, but....well, TMPGEnc does indeed now recognize the .d2v file, everytime I try to open it with TMPGEnc, I get an error "cannot open file or unsupported". I opened the .d2v file in a text editor to check, and all the .VOB file information appears to be correct, but I just strike out. Any further advice?

Oops. Please disregard my note just before this one -- I went back and found that I was using the .vfp file with a different version of DVD2AVI. I've straightened this out, and everything now works brilliantly. Very many thanks for both of your suggestions and your time. I absolutely never would have cracked this puzzle on my own.
