I have been experimenting with creating VCDs using 2 pass VBR coded using TMPGENC. Padding is off. I create the disk as a non-standard MPEG-1 Video CD
I seem to have a recurring problem of the discs hiccuping / pausing for seconds at a time at various points on the disc.
It invariable occurs in the first few seconds and sometimes the audio continues while the video freezes. Occasionally I see it elsewhere on the disc.
I have a Malata 996 - no access to another one for testing at this time.
Anyone else experienced this?
Thanks in advance

What are your bitrate settings? Some players don't like it if you go too low or too high. Try some different settings and see if it helps.

Found my problem - needed to enable padding to prevent the bit rate going too low for my player.
