I am testing Sonic Foundry VideoStudio 2.0 DEMO and I found that it might be able to create Closed Captions in video stream. SInce this is only demo version, I am unable to save file. Also in standard version they do not include MPEG2 encoder, it have to be purchased separately.
Can anybody confirm that Closed Captions are included in MPEG2 stream that is authored to DVD ?
Just if anybody is interested in this....

Based on that info it is only for WindowsMedia file..... Who knows.

But I think you're right, that technique is just for Windows Media files. It would've been nice if it worked for MPEG files. Sorry to burst your bubble.
By the way, great job on your site comparing various editing and authoring programs. I've been following it for a few months now. Keep up the good work.
