Guys, I usually burn MPEG2 files with Nero to SVCD discs straight off, no problems. I am now attempting to author a simple SVCD with thumbnails for several MPEG2 files on the same CD - with Ulead DVD Workshop 1.3.

The menu/thumbnail creation is easy, the files are fully compatible, the problem is when I finally burn. The outcome of the menus is good, but when the actual movie clips play they are "hacking", the video bitrate is strange and video/audio is way out of synch. Some sections the video plays really fast while others the video is at something like one frame per 2-3 seconds.

I have tried different settings when choosing bitrate in the final step just before burning (standard, legacy) but the result is always the same. DVD Workshop does not re-encode the files either, at least not that I can see.

My PC is old, PII 300MHz with 200MB RAM and 32MB 3D video card. Can this be the problem for DVD Workshop? Why is it not a problem for Nero??

Any other tips or pointers much appreciated, DVD Workshop has good functionality so I would really like to get it working!

Is there another good program for advanced authoring of SVCD with menus/thumbnails that you can recommend?

Thanks for any help!
