  1. Does anyone know why the Verbatim datalife plus DVD+R cost more thru mailorder companies than it does to buy them locally. I figured it would be the otherway around. I've compared both the 2.4X and 4X speeds and they are always cheaper to buy locally. Or are the ones thru the mail order companies different?

  2. I have the same question. Best Buy sells a five pack of 4x Verbatim DVD+R for 14.99. They have for the past two months. No site online can come close to that price!!!!! I have not had any issues with these DVD's either.

I also buy Verbatim from BestBuy, I always purchase a 15 pack for $39.99. Every site that I look at online is always more expensive, so it looks like BestBuy will keep getting my buisness.

  4. Yep, I go with the Verbatim at Best Buy as well. Not a single problem with them yet at a pretty decent price, especially for somebody like myself who doesn't do a ridiculous amount of burning.
Just think in another 6 months, I would bet they will be 15 for $25.

It's the same with the Verbatim DVD-Rs also. BestBuy's $39.99 for the 15 pc spindle is the best I have seen. I complained to BB that they didn't have the 50 packs of DVD-Rs from Verbatim, but they had the 50 packs of the DVD+Rs for $99.00. I have used Verbatims faithfully since the beginning. The DVDs that I burn usually run between 4,690 to 4,700 gigabytes (I push the envelope rather hard) and these disks have never failed me.

The best deal I have seen is a 30PK of Verbatim DVD+Rs for $49.99 at Samsclub in a cake box. And of course, it's the same deal as the Best Buy scenario....NO DVD-Rs! What's the deal? Whenever I go into any store, they have packs of DVD+Rs and the DVD-Rs are sold out.

  8. THE DVD-RS ARE NOT REALLY SOLD OUT, BUT THEY DONT CARRY DVD-Rs IN YOUR LOCAL STORES. BECAUSE DVD+R IS MORE POPULAR NOW.

rite now SAM CLUB has the best deal 30packs of verbatim dvd+r for 49.99 that's 1.67/each, it's dirt cheap for branded name media like verbatim.

i cant wait until SAM get their 50packs verbatim in it's gona be like 1.40/each disc. YEAH!!!!

Pretty bizare statement. Could you mind providing us with your source? With the installed base of DVD-R only recorders 3-4 times that of DVD+R, your statement seems outrageous.

But that is just my opinion.

  10. PROVE: DVD+R IS GETTING CHEAPER AND CHEAPER
EVEN THOUGH DVD-R CAME OUT FIRST BUT THEIR PRICE STILL COST MORE.

i'm talking about brand name medias no RITEK or princo here please.

the only way for dvd+r medias price dropping is because more ppl have dvd+rw drives and buy mostly dvd+r medias. is that good enough???

They are sold out. Of course, the expensive 5 packs for $20 don't sell, but Best Buy is always sold out of the 15PK of DVD-Rs. There is a missing gap and a label where they are supposed to be, but I guess that space is just empty b/c they don't carry DVD-Rs I am talking about BULK. If I wanted Memorex, it wouldn't be a problem, but I want Verbatim just like you do. Being that I have a Panasonic DVD Recorder, I want totally compliant media even if I have to pay more. Getting a 15PK of DVD-Rs for $39.99 is still good...just not great now that I see cheaper DVD+Rs. I would say DVD+R is more popular with Drives, maybe, but there is currently only one DVD+R Recorder (Philips) and 4 DVD-R Recorders (Toshiba, Pioneer, Panasonic, Samsung). Panasonic currently has the cheapest and best DVD Recorder on the market IMHO at $499, and I think people will flock to this once it gets in the $299 range.
