The file you're burning must be in wide-screen format without black borders.
To retain the wide format in VCD you will need to add the borders yourself.
You can use VirtualDub to add the borders and then frameserve the file to NERO.
The settings to use will depend on the dimensions of the original video.
What is the resolution and file type of the original video you are burning? -
There are several things that could be going on. Since you didn't tell us the steps/programs/settings/etc you used here some background.
Your TV has a display aspect ratio (DAR) of 4:3. VCDs and SVCDs have a DAR of 4:3 only.
Movies have a DAR of 16:9 and are shot at either 1.85:1 or 2.35:1.
If you want to watch a 1.85:1 movie on your 4:3 TV and perserve the aspect ratio the movie has to be letter boxed. Now it's important to understand that a letterboxed movie is really a 4:3 video. Those black bars are PART OF the movie.
This is how letterboxing was done on VHS and LDs (and even a few early DVDs).
However, today most DVDs are apomorphic. That is the video stream takes up the full resolution (720x480) and is flagged as 16:9 or 4:3. If you try to play a DVD that's flagged as 16:9 on a 4:3 TV, the DVD PLAYER adds the black bars on the fly.
The reason for this is that with the introduction/spread of widescreen TVs, no one really wants to watch 'letterboxed movies' (that is a video with the black bars as part of the video). If you play a DVD flagged as 16:9 on a wide screen TV, no black bars are added (point of fact widescreen TVs have a DAR of 1.77:1 so something does happen but that's another debate).
Anyway. VCDs can not be apomorphic. In order to preserve the DAR you have to letterbox the movie. There are a lot of different ways to do this (depends on your source, programs, etc).
Assuming you are using the 'std faq'
1) Rip DVD w/ smartripper
2) generate d2v and wav file w/ DVD2AVI
3) load d2v and wav file in TMPGenc
4) click on settings, then the advance tab, choose source range as 16:9 and set "full screen perserve aspect ratio"
5) encode
IIRC (That's from memory and I know frameserve w/ avisynth to CCE) that should work. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. Luck... -
ok say if i had a dvd rip like "BLOW" ok i cut it in too then what program should i use to burn? can i use nero to fix that problem im having?
