I'm kinda new as well, but one thing I've found out is that SVCD is much better than VCD. Sure, you're gonna lose the ability to put 3, 20-min episodes on a cd-r, but, after tinkering around in TMPGenc settings, I've found that I can put 2 episodes on 1 disc and keep SVCD quality. I encode the mpeg-2s at 2100-2200 kbps with noise reduction and the highest motion search. They outputs look pretty good, and I can put 2 on one disc. The absolute best quality is still 2520 kbps, but the output is 400-425 MBs. What really looks good is 4000-4100 kbps, but....after learning this the hard way, SVCDs max bit rate is 2600. *sigh* Shoulda read more about svcds. I'm such a newbie
Still, if you are only going to watch these on a computer, the 4100s will fit on one cd-r. I suppose u could go higher than that.....the one output I did at 4100 was 640-something MBs.
