  1. Hi,
I captured two large avis (10 mins each) and converted them with TMPGEnc to two MPEG1's. I then joined them together to form a single file (20 mins long), again with TMPGEnc. The joined MPEG1 file plays ok in Windows Media Player, but there is one problem. The MPEG is shown in the media player as only being 1/2 as long as it should be (10 mins instead of 20). The horizontal slider at the bottom of the Media Player (which shows the progress of the MPEG as it plays) reaches the end before the file has finished playing, however the file goes on playing after this point and finishes ok.
I know the above isn't explained very well, but can anyone explain how to get the file to play/dislplay properly and what causes this?
Thanks in advance for any advice/help.

  2. Hi,

It did happen to me too. I think this is a WMP problem.
Try to play your mpeg in another player, it should be OK.

This has occasionally happened to me on single files as well. Don't know why or how to fix it though.

  4. Try re-multiplexing the file in TmpGenc. Use the simple multiplex option under mpeg-tools. This might fix it.

  5. Bugster,
Thanks for your reply. I tried your idea.
On demultiplexing and multiplexing, VirtualDub said the file may be corrupted, but I saved it anyhow and it appears to be fixed now.
Here's a guide to the procedure (with pictures) I found, for anyone else who's interested.
