  1. I have recently bought a digital camcorder and am using Ulead VideoStudeo 6 to edit the footage. I'm not sure what format to copy to or to export in - AVI/MPEG etc.. I'm not sure whether to do it in 352x288 or 480x576 - does it matter? Quality on VCD is not bad, but not as good as connecting the camcorder directly to the TV. Also when I copied the ediited footage back to the camcorder and then to videotape the quality was not particularly good. My DVD player supports VCD but not SVCD. Is it worth buying a new player for SVCD - is it much better than VCD or should I take the more expensive optiohn and buy a DVD writer for my PC ?
Any help or advice would be appreciated. I live in the UK so the TV is PAL.
    Many thanks in advance.

352x288 is vcd standard while 480x576 is svcd which is a lot better in quality try adjusting the video bitrate in the settings in video studio, not sure if you can adjust settings for encoding, if not try TMPEnc the quality will be much better but you will have to edit seperately with studio 6. not sure what dvd player you have but if it only plays vcd's you will have problems with none compliant settings if adjusted. if you live anywhere near manchester then i suggest you nip down to bowlers computer market and get a new dvd player £80 there are several choices and they all play everythin you put in it

  3. I have tried to put my movies on vcd the quality is ok at standard bit rit but to a higher bit rite will give you better quality but you will not be able to fit as many mins. on one cd. You will be much happier with a dvdr drive.
