    Hi
What's the highest speed you guys burn your SVCDs at??
I'm just updating from a 12 speed to 52 speed.
What is the maximum I should be burning my SVCD??
As a sidenote what sort of speeds do people here successfully burn audio CDs at??

    Cheers

I used to burn at 12X but I got a few problems and now I use 8X. I think it really depends on your burner, media and player. For me, speed is really not a big issue. Same for VCD or data.

  3. I had a Lite-on 24x (replaced with Pioneer DVR-A05), and I burnt everything at 24x onto TKD 80min CDRs (from costco) and never had any problems. That inlcudes: mode1 data discs, x(S)VCDs, PSX1 games. YMMV

--do you get problems because of this? if not, don't worry about it.
    otherwise, maybe try VCDeasy/CDRDAO

I've never had any problems burning at 12X, but from what I've seen in the forums here, it seems to depend on your burner, media, standalone...

I burn at 12x to 52x, depending on what was on sale that week

A LOT of people swear by burning slower to ensure their SVCD are error free. This is a function of cheap disks, cheap burners, and system capabilities. Burn at what reliably works for you.

there's an easy way to check if burn speed is the problem(if you don't mind wasting a few discs)
take a VCD you've burned and gotten this problem with, and burn it again on a slower speed(using the same media/burner), and then again at a slower speed, and so on and see if you get the same problem. if you stop seeing that problem when the burn speed gets lower, then you know what speed to burn at. if not, then try different media.

I gues it depends at the performance of your system and the brand of your burner.
I used to burn (S)VCD's at 8x Speed at a HP-9700i, if I wend faster I got 'buffer underruns'. Now, the damn thing is broken so I bought myself a new burner of Samsung which allows one to burn at 48x Speed (but my system cannot reach these values at DAO).
I can burn safely S/VCD's at 16x Speed, and propperly even faster. But 16x Speed is okay for me. Burning a 80min CDR now takes about 2minutes...
I already have burned about 50cd's last weekend and all did well at 16x Speed.
