I have been working with all applications I found on the net for some weeks to convert my VOB files to VCD.

The best so far seems to be ffmpeg. The quality is ok BUT...

The picture freezes sometimes and sometimes the blocky thingis is distorting the picture. I tried standard settings and all other possible settings (PAL is the system I want). No luck

Also I don't don't know if to use "MPEG 1 [.MPG] ffmpeg" or the "MPEG 1 [.MPG] mpeg2enc" pre-setting. But the mpeg2enc setting don't work for me. The only result/output that is created is a mp2 file, no video. I was hoping for a moore detaild manual or instruktions for ffmpeg or some help

  2. i also have a problem similar to this.
i created 1 6GB vob file from OSEx for my movie, minority report.
i am trying to convert it to VCD, and i tryed using the vcd setting on ffmpegx, but the audio is behind the video by about 8 seconds.
anyone know another method of converting a VOB to VCD?

I have had some success with chanign the .vob extension to a .mov then running the conversion.

Honesty I have never been able to get a .vob to vcd ever!
Now, rather than extracting the dvd, i just use forty-two which will make the vcd directly!

Check the postings on forty-two for more info.

v1.5 should be out soon and this will go driectly from dvd to vcd image files.

Currently its goes from dvd to mpeg2 which you have to pack as a image. The quality is great and the speed is fast.
This may be easier than your current method
