    Guys,

I have tried 4 different DVD's to date and none of them will convert with forty-two from DVD to DVD-R. What I end up with after the process is done is 1 really nice .mpg file and another file called biles.mpv. The .mpg has no sound.

When the application shows you the test clip it is always out of sync but at least there is audio. I read in another post that this wasn't really a big deal because the DVD player plays them differently than QT.

I don't know if the app is not working or if I am just doing something wrong.

    Help !

  2. It's working perfect.... from here you can extract the ac3 with Osex thenr import the biles.mpv and ripped Osex audio into DVDSP/Sizzle and build disk (works with v1.02)

or Demux the mpg and do the same.. i kinda like extracting the ac3 seperatly with Osex to get the 5.1 ac3 audio track

All this will be easier with v1.5... you get video_ts folders at the end of the process, which burn in toast

(by the way the mpg has sound, its just ac3 so only VLC or mplayer will playit)

You can use the mpg right away with Sizzle to master your dvd (just leave the audio source blank in Sizzle, and use the .mpg for video). To check if the sound plays, go and download VideoLAN Client (http://www.videolan.org), and play the mpg with that. If it's fine, go ahead and use sizzle to make a DVD image for Toast. As far as 1.5, it looks like it will be soon, HOWEVER, it seems the entire development team has been very discouraged by the lack of support from the Mac community, and so they will be moving to coding for Windows. It looks like 1.5 is going to be the last version of Forty-Two for the Mac. . .
I like systems, their application excepted. (George Sand, translated from French), "J'aime beaucoup les systèmes, le cas d'application excepté."

  5. K first off i donated 20 bucks.

Secondly, I still can't get the DVd-DVD-R to work either. I tried ripping The Usual Suspects and i got a 1 gb .mpg that was only 40 minutes long....after a whole day......weird.....another thing what is the biles.mpv file? I'm not exactly new to ripping and video but i can't say i understand what it is, and as someone in the above post said to put BOTH the biles.mpv AND the ac3 into sizzle? Also I'm a bit fed up with trying to put in chapter markers, I tried DSP but it won't accept any of my video's (i.e. force quits when i try to preview) SO right now I am using virtual pc and Spruce UP, but again I cannot get my video into spruce up, What am I doing wrong? ffmpeg/mpeg2enc......demuxing....muxing....i've tried every possible various combination of programs and still to no avail, I CANNOT get a DVD program to read my mpeg 2 video. I even tried a DVd patcher program that patches the file to a different resolution/etc.....I'm lost guys. Any help would be great and kai, I understand why you are switching but let me say this......The windows community is not more supportive at all of programs like 42, however, there are more of them. Thus by the sheer quantity of downloads you will get I think you would be making more money......good luck with it kai and thanks for all your help and work!!! It is appreciated

Course if i could get this DVD to DVd-R working it'd be much more appreciated........

  6. K, here's what I get, and hopefully this will help some people. After everything is done decoding, I get a .mpg file and a .mpv file. The .mpv file (biles.mpv) is what I input into DVDSP (works fine). For the audio part, I extract ONLY the .ac3 file from the DVD using OSeX, and input that into DVDSP. Thus far synch has been fantastic. After that, just add chapter markers if you want. Otherwise, choose File > Build and format disc... and it will save it in a dvd.img file for you to burn in toast.

Hmmmm.... Still haven't gotten around to testing 42's release version yet. Perhaps I should wait for 1.5? How reliable is it with DVD? It sounds like people are getting mixed results with DVD --> DVD.

Tried this... doesn't seem to work. I left the audio source blank and a messages says the audio is missing from track 1... oops. Any ideas?

    Thanks... Adam

if there is a 5:1 track that matches the lang you choose, thats the one forty-two picks automatically...been like that for awhile. What does your Surround sound receiver tell you its playing?
