Since My Toshiba SD-2200 won't play SVCDs, I've tried using the VCD Header trick but so far the results have been negative. I have no problem multiplexing the SVCD file in TMPGEnc. It's in the burning process. Ulead Movie Factory tells me the file is not VCD compatible and will not burn it. Nero also tells me it's not VCD compatible and will be re-encoded to VCD before burning. I just viewed such a disc and all I had was the audio, no video at all. Just a blank screen. Just wondering if I'm doing something wrong. Have others used this burning software successfully in this situation?

  2. I have made successful VCD header trick svcd .....when you try to play back on your system you only get audio for some reason...As for nero don't let it re-encode burn it as a non compliant VCD ....thats the whole point of using the vcd header trick. Using the trick will make a non standard vcd ....or at least makes your player think that........give it a go on a re writable if the player supports it or bite the bullert and burn the CD ....a good blank CD in Australia cost 25cents........thats 12.5 cents american I am sure you can give it a go.....
How long could we maintain? I wondered. How long until one of us starts raving and jabbering at this boy? What will he think then?

    thefox149,

Thanks for your response. I went back and tried Nero again but couldn't figure out how to prevent it from re-encoding the disc as VCD. The message box that comes up gives you only the choice of choosing "OK" to the idea of the disc being re-encoded. So I decided to try using VCDEasy. It allowed me to burn the disc without reencoding and its analysis showed the file to be MPEG1. The burn was successful but I still got only audio when I put the disc in my DVD player. The TV screen just shows a mesh of colored horozontal lines. Maybe my player (Toshiba SD-2200) is one that can't be tricked into playing SVCDs.

I noticed in the VCDEasy log several instances of "One or more BCD fields out of range..." Any idea what that means?

Oh, well, maybe I'll just have to stick to XVCDs until I can buy a DVD burner. Now if I can just figure out how to create compatible files with my PVR-250 card. The app that comes with it doesn't allow much flexibility when it comes to changing bit rates and resolution. For example, any time you choose MPEG1, it defaults to a CBR of 1150. You can go into the advanced settings tab and choose a higher rate but the software goes back to 1150 once you close the dialog box. Very frustrating!

  4. Have you tried virtual dub...... then convert using tmgnc for capping??? everyone around here just about uses it and there's good reason.....it is an absolutly brillant app. I am not to familar with VCD easy (I have used it but not as much as nero) or you capp card..so I am not able to help ....but just type in what you want in the forum and 9 times out of 10 someone has an answer or is trying to achieve the same result as you.

Have you checked the DVD players list in regards to your particular player???
people post remarks etc on it.....I have brough 3 dvd players over the last year for family and have consulted the list and gotten players that can do it all thanks to it. Though I have heard that earlier model Toshibas claim to play normal VCD but don't.......well at least my friends one doesn't ...not sure if your is new or old....
