  1. Hi all!
    Recently i make CVD for my daughter from DivX (Spirit). This cartoon very long approx. 80 min. When I made CVD (352x480) and burn with Nero as non-compliant SVCD, cartoon very good until reached time 73 min 20 sec and seconds shimering 18, 20, 22 and time holded. When I try make VCD I not have problem. My player is Pioneer-343. This restriction for SVCD format or this feature my player.
    With kind regards Yury.

  2. The maximum length of an SVCD movie depends on its bitrate:
    T = S / B
    where T is the time (in seconds), S the size of a CD-R (in kilobits) and B the bitrate. For an 80min CD-R, S equals to 795*1024*8=6512640. You take 795 MB (not 703 MB), because in the Mode 2 Form 2 format (used on VCDs/SVCDs) the extra space normally reserved for error correction can also be used by the MPEG video. So you basically gain 13% of additional space (703 * 1.13 ~ 795).
    The bitrate is the sum of audio and video bitrates. For an 80min CD-R and an audio bitrate of 224 bps you get:
    T = 6512640 / (video bitrate - 224)
    Just fill in the bitrate of the video stream, and you get the time in seconds that will fit on a normal SVCD.
    Using this formula, you can of course also calculate the best bitrate for fitting a movie on CD.
    There are only 10 types of people in the world:
    Those who understand binary
    and those who don't.
