  1. Hi,
I want to be able to burn XVCD's, but dont want to spend any money on software. I can encode the XVCD fine using TMPGEnc, and at the moment I am using the free trial of Nero to burn it, and my results are fine. But when the free trial runs out I want to be able to carry on doing this. As far as I understand TMPGEnc is free forever (please correct me if I'm wrong), so I want something which will do the job Nero is currently doing (of burning the file to disk). I'm not sure if the software which came with my burner (Iomega Hotburn Pro) will be able to do this, as I cannot select Video CD when choosing what sort of disk I want to burn, like I can in Nero.
    UPDATE
Forgot to mention this earlier. I also want to be able to create menu's with my own pictures and music, like I can in Ulead MovieFactory (easier to use and more functional than Nero's menu feature). Can VCDEasy do this, or what other software can?
Any help will be gratefully received.
    Thanks,
    Matt

VCDEasy, look for it in the Tools section.

VCDEasy is free and can burn XVCDs. Just pick the VCD 1.0 or VCD 2.0 option, but make sure you uncheck "perform some compliance checks".

  4. Ok, i'll do that. Thanks for the very quick response. I've updated my original post, including stuff I forgot when I typed it first so if you could read that and reply, that would be great.
    Thanks
    Matt

  6. Since VCDEasy uses VCDImager as the backend, you can create much more complex and creative menus that you even could with Ulead. However, it will not be as easy to do and there will be a steeper learning curve.

With VCDEasy, you can relatively easily make still menus and chapters but for anything else, it is highly recommended you start learning on what you can and cannot do with a VCD and how to use the XML scripting system.
