It all depends on what your final output is going to be? SVCD, VCD, DVD, 1/2 DVD, etc.. I usually set up my capture specs to closely match my output specs in terms of file size & bitrate.

  3. I am creating VCD's of tv movies. I am curious about the packet size setting in windvr. Not sure what it means. I like the mpeg encoder on windvr better than powervcr. Maybe i should just capture to a high bitrate mpeg-1 and then tmpgenc it down to vcd after editing?

    This is what I did:

Find the template you want to encode with in TMPGEnc.

Examine the properties of that template including resolution, packet size, etc..

Setup a template in WinDVR to match exactly.

    Record.

  7. Got windvr 2 up and running. Much improved recording profiles. I wish it were as flexible as powervcr2 but i will take intervideos quality over convenience.
