  1. anyone know how to put a svcd to dvd with loss of sync? help
ok i have looked around a lot of sites and tried different guides put i have
this big problem where i cannot convert my svcd onto a dvd.
i have joinded 3 files together with AVI Mpeg joiner to form 1 big svcd.
all the files are in sync no problems.
i have tried using DVD2AVI +TMPGE guide on this web site
i produce a mpeg load it onto spruceup
but again when i come to the bit in the mpeg where the join is it goes out of sync.
i have also tried the guide on doom and this web site where you use patchmaker and again it all goes to ****.
all i want is a easy step by step guide on how to get it work correctley.

    please help

  2. Hi Mate

I had a similar prob with 2 recent dvd screener releases (the mega ones of the last month shall we say, downloaded in svcd format). I use Ulead workshop which can produce strange results itself , but brilliantly easy to get to grips with) however I can vouch that it is possible to have tmpg produce insync , complete dvd compatible streams from the parts of the svcd streams.

I basically used the guide on vcdhelp , so no credit here. Didnt patch anything , I did the following

    1. from the downloaded svcd images i mounted in daemon tools , then copied each mpeg2 file to a directory , nameing each one in logical order , ie part1, part2, etc , etc
    2. Open the 1st file in DVDAVI , the rest should all be listed
    3. Preview to see if the svcd is film , (u should have all the parts of the movie) if so use force film , otherwise default
(note the framerate however , pal or ntsc , )
    4. save the project
    5. open the project under tmpg using the relevant dvd template
    6. if the download was film , then load the unlock template , then change the setting framerate in tmpg to 29.97 , even if it was film. i ignored the pulldown option stated , tried it , didnt work , out of sync , dont care , works for me. (also Workshop insited on reencoding until I did the framrate change)
Make sure you change the audio to 48k+whatever bitrate u want.

    7. Set the other options in TMPG bitrate etc.
    8. set the output resolution , if the download was 480x480 then I use the half dvd sets ie if PAL 352,576 , or NTSC 352x480. This works without noticable change in quality.
Encode a test source range + check if in range. Like I say I have tried 2 very recent DVD screener releases + now enjoy them in full authored glory on both standalone + console based dvd players.

Like I say , cant vouch for your authoring software , however the file I produce from TMPG is in sync + DVD authoring compatible. With DVD workshop as long as I specify a bitrate template higher than the tmpg encode rate then no reencoding+hence no chance of out of sync dvd.

    Cheers

    Scouse
