    My friend has a vcd-player, and when he turn it on it stands on the screen: "VCD 3.0". HUH? I though 2.0 was the latest vcd format before SVCD, or is it just another name for svcd?

    Yeah, my DVD player claims to support VCD 1.0,2.0 and 'the new VCD 3.0
    It also says it supports SVCD, so i guess SVCD and VCD3.0 aren't the same thing.

    Still like to know what the VCD3.0 standards are though.

    its allegedly svcd under another name, this has been explained once before ages ago infact a very very long time ago
