  1. Hi all,

I am running an AverTV Studio card under WinXP with the latest WDM drivers from the Avermedia website.

MPEG2-captures (720x576) using the standard software and "best quality" settings are ok so far and I can replay them with WinDVD, but as I try to convert them to SVCD, DVDx cannot find audio and TMPGenc won't even read the file...

What's wrong? Can anyone help? I am lost.

PS: If there is a better way (or software) capturing VHS to SVCD, any tip is appreciated...

  2. Have you tried WinDVR 2.0?

Assuming you want to capture straight to mpeg and not do an AVI-mpeg convertsion.

i have that card and have expirenced the same problem... i found no solution so i downloaded the drivers at http://btwincap.sourceforge.net installed them and started using virtual dub... it works great but i can see to get the old software to work oh well....

  4. Thanks for your help so far - here are the results.

ok. I tried to implement the tweaked driver you mentioned and all I got was an unusable tv tuner including I had to completely reinstall the card... so I guess this not my option (or maybe I'm not doing well enough).

VCD capture is working, but unhappily the quality is not really what I would expect. And I tried captures in AVI (with vdub), but TMPGenc won't read those.

No, I did not try WinDVR yet.

  5. Hi all,

    just to let everyone know:

I bought a little software package called "Filme auf CD & DVD 2.0" (by Magix) - have I mentioned I'm german? - and this offers me fool-proof conversion and editing options (regardless if this is recorded in MPEG1, 2 or AVI or DivX or MOV). That's cool - I will continue capturing in MPEG2 using the original AverTV software and then cut the movie to a SVCD-fitting size...

    Works great so far!
