  3. I feel your pain, bro. Seems that Sonic MyDVD takes the nice MPEG encoded audio stream and reencodes it to PCM which takes up a pile of space. No workaround that I know of. I've been experimenting with Ulead DVD Moviefactory 2 (you can get a 30 day demo). I haven't fully evaluated it yet but I think it will keep the MPEG audio if you tell it to. Can anyone else out there confirm this?

That is the case, myDVD "un"compresses everything to PCM. You gotta use DVDit or higher as to when it'll let you import ac3 streams, or even create them for you. The only huge negative on DVDit, is you cannot mix and match mpg 1 and 2 source clips.....

Try Spruceup,it will author a VCD but you need to convert the audio from a sample rate of 44100 to 48000 for any authoring program to import.
I have used Ifoedit to author SVCD because it will except 44100 audio and will correct the aspect ratio of the SVCD automatically. VCD's 352x240 is DVD compliant so Ifoedit will probably work.

  8. hmm..seems like if i used tmpgenc to encode the vcd's to dvd-mpeg...i can use ulead movie factory..to burn it...when i add a converted video...the size is pretty much the same..btw..is there anyway to add chapters to the vcd's?..using ulead...and when i burned a dvd with MySonic DVD...the audio was a half a second late...
