black and white on yamaha dvd 8510

hi i have burnt a video file to a vcd cd in nero , but when i play it on my yamaha dvd player it plays the video in black and white and sometime jumps a bit with the picture? does anyone have any ideas? my dvd player does play vcd because i have used someone elses vcd and it worked on my dvd player.

Dont really play with VCD much, but if this had been a authored DVD, I would have asked if you are producing a NTSC (american) format video and playing it to a TV set up for PAL (european) or through a scart lead than isn't suitable for NTSC playback. Is there a PAL option when producing your vcd. If you are in America, then just ignore me, as my advice is useless.

This is almost certainly a format issue. ie you are creating an NTSC disc to be played on hardware that will only play PAL, or you are creating a PAL disc to be played on hardware that will only play NTSC.
