I tried a lot of others but this works for me very well. Easy and cheap but still makes DVD you could not tell from the original if done correctly.

D'accord. I've just been reviewing this thread and people are talking about Scenarist (>$15,000 !!!) as if it's possible to compare it to Roxio MovieCreator (currently $49 after rebate).

There seem to be a few different price/availability levels:

    ~$100:
    VideoWave 5 Power Edition (Roxio)
    VideoWave MovieCreator (Roxio)
    Studio 8 (Pinnacle)
    DVD Complete (Dazzle)

    ~$300:
    uLead DVD Workshop

    (too darned expensive):
    Scenarist

    (no longer available):
    Maestro

Ok, it's cool to know that you can do the world with Scenarist, but it's not really an option for most of us. For that matter you may be having a lot of fun with Maestro, but if it's no longer available it doesn't do those of us looking for a product much good.

Of the others, uLead seems to be the acknowledged leader ... but it's also three times the price of the rest ... if there are others in the $300 class, you could compare _them_ against uLead.

Can anybody draw up a good summary of the pros/cons of the available products that takes into account the relative costs of each as well?

This is only for DVD 9's that can not be reduced to a workable 4.5 GB by ripping just the main movie, if so It is just a straight rip and burn with (DVDDecrypter) another good freeware program, or whatever program you prefer,
I have had great success with this method on DVD 9 to 5. It is not all freeware but I have spent many nights and countless time on a lot of software and found this method flawless, if followed precisely, on each attempt. You have to decide for your self what works for you time, cost ect. I have made many many copy's of my DVD's and no costers since I started using this process. None of this is my software nor do I have any affiliation with the software providers I just know it makes great DVD's and it is all still available unlike most of the guides I tried that get you half way through the process and then you find out some of the software or other necessary component does not exist any more or costs an arm and a leg.

    Not free but cheap
