I justed wanted to let everyone know about the poor customer service and product support I have recieved from Mintek.
I own a Mintek 1600 that is less than a year old. Recently, I purchased a Sony DRX500UL burner. I have burned DV media from my camcorder, DVD backups and downloaded video to 4 different brands of DVD media. I have tried +R, -R, and +RW. Every single one I have burned will work in 4 different brands of DVD players which proves that the burned DVDs are working.
Now for the complaint...None of these DVDs will play in the Mintek 1600 that I own. I have researched this model on the Internet and all sources I have found that at minimum that this model plays DVD +R without any problem. Remember that I have tried 4 different brands of DVD media and the +R/-R/+RW version of each!
I contacted Mintek and was told that there was nothing that they could do. Even though the above information points to a device that is not working properly, they never offered any solution. They simply quoted company policy that their product was never "advertised" to work on anything but commercially produced DVDs. I got this same lame excuse from their Tech Support and one of their company VPs. I also had sent them an email via their company web site 3 days ago but never received a response.
I highly recommend that you do not purchase their products due to poor quality and poor customer support.

I am sorry bot you are wrong in your statements. If your authored DVD works in other brands, doesn't mean it should work in mintek also. If you have a written statement saying "also plays DVD+R, DVD-R, DVD+RW" then you have a valid claim. For instance the Philips 724AT states "Plays DVD+R, DVD+RW discs"...thats in their manual. My toshiba sd100 says "plays DVD-video discs"...Doesn't mean I can call and complain about my authored DVD's working on toshiba.
Get your facts straight..True you are a consumer but you can't have everything your way
