    I am mainly going to be transferring my digital camcorder movies to DVD, and was wondering if TMPGenc is the best tool for this.

    I don't want to spend the $49 dollars if there is a better tool for around the same price. I have the Sonic MyDVD package that came with my DVD burner, but it is pretty basic.

    Any suggestions for better DVD authoring package for around the same price?

    There's nothing that can compare for the price ($49 or free). Other good choices are CCE or Ulead DVD Workshop. Both of which cost a more than a fair bit of money
