You people are gods to me....

I've been converting my DVDs to DiVX files (full-res, stereo sound (some have 5.1 Dolby sound :) ) for a year or so but haven't found the desire to make any SVCDs.

Idea! I've got about 70 movies, why not encode some of my favorites to SVCD so I can watch them on my DVD player? Brilliant idea!

So, I spend 5 hours converting my 2 hour AVI file down to a 480x480, VBR, MPEG-2 file, even getting the 3:2 pulldown (which, I was only aware of due to this site) in there. The output, however, was 1.55GB. A little bit under the mark of where you add two 800mb MPEG files to SVCD. Good, it will burn as 2 CDs, just like the input.

Long story short, after 2 different programs and about an hour of wasted time, I was able to, after reading this site's tutorials over and over, burn 800mb on an SVCD.

Turns out me, like the idiot I am, had the multiplexing set to MPEG-2 Program Stream instead of MPEG-2 SVCD when I split the MPEG-2 file!

No wonder I got stream errors in Nero, and VCDEasy wanted to add 100MB of padding to the 800mb file.
