  1. For those of you that have read my many posts on how to convert SVCDs to VCDs then burn them and whatnot, here is what i have come down to.

I have and MPEG2 (SVCD) file burned onto a CD-r that will not play on my Panasonic RP56 which is connected to my big TV. So i burned both halfs of the movie to SVCD format. However i didn't yet delete the MPEG2 on my PC.
So I tried the VCD header trick. 1. when multiplexing i changed it to an MPEG1 Stream (non standered). 2. NERO does not like burning any type of MPEG2 file (even if it has been multiplexed), so i have to create a BIN/CUE file with VCDImagerGUI.

Once that is done I now have a BIN/CUE file ready to burn to a VCD . Finally my VCD is done. I play it on my DVD Player: Green stuff everywhere. Barely even watchable. ( I didn't turn off MAKE A STANDERED COMPLIANT CD!)

I didn't know what to do now so with 2 SVCD discs i don't need these huge MPEG2 files on my computer so in the trash they went. Then I found i could multiplex it as an MPEG1 stream (standered).

So I did. I copied the MPEG2 file from my SVCD and multiplexed it to an MPEG1 Stream (standered), then i made my BIN file (VCD 2.0) and finally burned it (turned off MAKE A STANDERED COMPLIANT CD)

    This time it worked better.

So now what i thought the matter was when I converted it to a BIN i thought that it screwed up the file, so it wasn't the same MPEG2 file as it was before i made it a BIN.

Instead of wasting my time with a 50 minute movie (burning, multiplexing, making the bin) i downloaded a short 30 second movie of a Ferrari racing down the street. I made it an MPEG2 file, Multiplexed it to an MPEG1 Standered, made the bin (VCD 2.0) and turned MAKE A STANDERED COMPLIANT CD off.

It worked. The only problem was when it started to play, it showed the first frame of the movie, went black, then played normally.

NOW my thoughts on why its not working is because its a DIVX file. A divx file is a DVD rip file converted to an AVI right? Because there certainly isn't a Ferrari racing down the street on a home made cam ive ever seen.

So i tried ripping the DVD "weskers report" and when using DVDx, i stopped it midway ( I was making an MPEG2 file of the DVD), and multiplexed it to an MPEG1 standered, made the BIN (VCD 2.0) and burned it using NERO (turned off Make a Standered compliant CD).

This is how it turned up: it would play for 2 seconds, audio would skip, play for two seconds, audio would skip, repeat.......

SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!!! this is all the information i can supply save for that the MPEG2 bitrate of the movie i'm trying to get to work is 1858 and the Ferrari was 2520 or whatever normal SVCD bitrate is.

My thoughts: The framerate is PAL rate (25 fps) and when i burn it using NERO, next to Make a STANDERED COMPLIANT CD, it says something about PAL and NTSC. its on PAL. Does it need to be NTSC?

i'm in america if that helps.

  3. Yeah, is a DIVX file a rip of a DVD converted to an AVI?

No i downloaded the movie off the internet as an AVI (its a DIVX file, so i figured its a rip of a DVD), and converted it to an MPEG2 file from an AVI

well they could be, the content could be anything (rip, capture, cgi, etc ) - you would know better what you downloaded ... divx is a type of mpeg4 anyway ...

    follow this guide http://www.vcdhelp.com/forum/userguides/111846.php

you are in n. america .. where ntsc is the norm also (29.97 or 23.97 if film source) , pal is 25fps

  9. I really don't think this file is going to be done by Christmas since i think i just downloaded a virus and whenever i try to open a word document, it turns into an EXE file and then i can't open it.
