so heres the deal. I have the avi's i would like to burn to vcd. I downloaded TMPGE to convert from avi to mpg. Once that long process is over, i try to play them on my system using windows media player, and a problem comes up. I get sound, but no picture. I followed all of the "how to" steps posted on the site, but for some reason, im unalbe to get any picture, only the sound.
One other question since im already posting, are you able to burn vcds onto cdrw's?? No need to make any more coasters, already have enough of those.

Did you frameserve the .avi from DVD2AVI first? I find that sometimes TMPGenc is a bit iffy on sound. But, I think your real problem is that Windows Media Player (I think I'm right here) doesn't support VCDs but it DOES support MPEGs. You can try burning as a VCD and then opening Windows Media player and then opening the .dat file in the middle folder. But I would HIGHLY suggest getting one of the players listed under the tools link on the left. I would be surprised if that didn't solve your problem.

p.s. in answer to your question you CAN burn VCDs to CD-RW.
