I wa hoping someone might be able to help me with an audio sync problem I'm having.

Note: this only happens on some svcd's (random)

I have to use the VCD header trick in order for my soney to play SVCD's but it does work.

If I extract the mpg files from two different SVCD image files, convert to VCD with the VCD header trick and then burn them I'll get one CD that plays perfectly and the other will have an audio sync problem where the audio is 1 second or more behind the video. Now if I play them both on my PC there's nothing wrong with either of them.

Is this an authoring issue or do I need to change something during conversion and if I do is there a way to tell when and how I need to convert without burning the disc first and making a coaster?

I've run into the same thing and would like to know an answer. Just burned an mpg2 with the header trick and the audio is about 1 sec behind the vid.

  3. I,m having the same problem and i think i know the reason.
I use dvd2svcd to make my svcd including chapters, images etc.
I sometimes use the headertrick for a friend who can,t play svcd.
I noticed that this trick stripped all the extra,s such as chapters etc.
So in other words, i can skip chapters in the original mpeg, but not in the tricked one.
I believe, but don,t know for sure, that this is causing the sync-problems.
I plan to try this out myself by making a svcd without chapters and then trick it to a vcd and see what happens.

Let me know what happens to that SVCD you burn with the header trick. I have several DVD quality SVCD Mpeg2's on my hard drive I want to burn for my Home system DVD player but every one of them that I burn has audio sync problems. I've burnt others just fine. It's just killing me because I can't figure out what it is with these particular movies thats causing the problem.
