  2. If you change the size of the bars the whole picture gets stretched and it looks funny. Thats just the way widescreen movies look, And I dont know about you but I would rather have the bars than a weired stretched picture.

I just waana add, that widescreen movies are also broadcasted on tv sets.
Of course the bars are there also, but not as thick. When I'm converting to svcd I usually trim some pixels from the right and left of the movie.
I always aim for 16:9 aspect ratio, then when letterboxing I letterbox it to 4:3. This way I can get more "color" on the tv, but I get some information loss. Anyway I've burnt a lot of discs this way and usually the action is in the middle of the picture, and you wont miss anything, only get a better video to watch.

  5. Some people do like the widescreen versions better. check http://www.widescreen.org then see why it's better (sure, some people will still prefer full screen, yes)

  6. yes widescreen is the way i like my movies, just takes getting used to. the vhs mafia has brainwashed you into liking your movies with the sides cut off.

I mean the the movie, under color. The black bars are black not coloured. ( of course you can add purple borders if you like)
widescreen is for the movies. 99% of viewers have a 4:3 ( some 16:9)
sets at home. To improve the quality of TV viewing at home you must concern using 16:9 as THE aspect ratio.

Explain the 16:9 thing to me why worry about it? Many movies are made in 2.35:1 and that is the way i leave them because that is how they were inteneded to be seen. So cutting from the side so you see 16:9 loses part of the movie but how does this improve the quality of tv viewing any more than any other form of widescreen
