  1. Hey,

Ok, i have fixed one of my problems, but now i have another!!! The video is great on the machine, perfectly in sync with the audio... But when I burn it, it goes out of sync... Before i burn, dvdit converts the file... Is anyone else having this problem? Anyone have any ideas on how to fix it?

    The file is a

    MPEG-2 4000 VBR 704x480

  2. What version and level (SE/PE) of DVDit ?

What bitrate is your audio ?

Lower end DVDit versions convert all audio to 48KHz PCM (wave) audio. If it only goes out of sync a little bit after a long time, a conversion error might be the culprit.

I record at 48khz and 192 bit rate... Can I convert the audio myself, so maybe it wont mess up? My DVD player plays mpeg audio, so can I tell it not to convert?

  4. 121 people looking, no suggestions!!! Is there no hope? Did I waste all my money to be stopped by a second sync error?

  5. We need more info, are you making:
    1) a miniDVD on a CD-R/RW
    2) a CDVD with Sonic's special playback software on a CD-R/RW
    3) a DVD on a DVD-R/RW

Yes, you could convert the audio to wave outside of DVDit. I've used the file-writer output of WinAMP (mp3 player) to do this with a demultiplexed mpeg1 layer2 audio file. DVDit should accept a wave file instead of mpeg audio.

Sonic doesn't support mpeg audio as an output option because not all NTSC market DVD players can play mpeg audio. The DVD standard says that Mpeg audio for NTSC players is an option, but not required. Only PCM (wave) and AC3 support are required for a spec compliant NTSC market DVD player. This is one of those gotcha's that most people don't know about yet.

Another idea is that the video stream may not be 100 percent DVD compliant, and is causing multiplexing problems that your player can't cope with, but the computer can. Try the disk(s) on another player or two.

As DVDit/MyDVD remux the whole mpeg files before authoring (VOB's) them, I doubt very much that changing the bitrate would achieve anything. I personally find the software quite buggy!

Unfortunately DVDit and MyDVD aren't quite free from bugs and limitations. You should try using SpruceUp, and see if you are still getting the same problems.

  7. DVDit does not transcode MPG audio to PCM/AC3 very well. The reason is because MPG audio is already compressed and now you are uncompressing to another format. This will be improved in Version 3 in the 4Q release (in reality 1Q2002)

Try using a wav file instead of MPG audio and this will solve your sync problem.

Are you ripping off a DVD ?..If so..why not try using the original ac3 soundtrack...Although DVDit can only accept ac3 2.0 stereo......Personally i fund DVDit too buggy so i use Spruce Up for multiplexing

  9. Hey,

I am capturing from tv... I tried converting to WAV first and then importing it into DVDit, but it still was out of sync when burned, but fine on the screen!! I tried it on one stand alone and 2 computers... I am burning on DVD-RW... I tried spruce up, the audio is in sync, but the audio pauses every few seconds... I would wrather use dvdit, but havent had to much luck... When is that new versions comeing out that should fix my problem? Will it be a free upgrade?

    Thanks,
    Matthew

  11. Mdanner423! No, worries, pal! It is OK. Well, of course it is not OK that DVDit sucks in this case. But the problem can be solved. I think it is not a problem of multiplexing by DVDit, because all files that I authored with DVDit PE 2.1 and put in a hard drive folder are completely synched (whatever audio I input - usually it is MPEG Layer 3 encoded with Ligos). The burning function creates problem. So, what I do to burn a movie on a DVD-R is creating DVD folders on my hard drives (with DVDit) and then burning the folders (VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS) on a DVD-R using Prassi DVDPrimo (supplied with a Pioneer A03 drive, US version). Then your DVD output is perfectly synched. Let me know how it works.

  13. Yikes ! Sounds like Compaq took the cheap route.

If you search prior posts on this forum, the Doom9.org forum, or the Flexion.org forum, you should be able to find others that share your need of this software and hopefully a link to a site where you can get it. The European buyers of the Pioneer drive didn't get it either (licensing problems).
