avi to mpg

does anyone know how i can convert avi to mpg? i can't use nero because the file is longer than one hour and ten minutes...

if i can't convert avi to mpg, do you know how to cut the avi into smaller sizes?

This is what I use:
1. I use Decompress.exe from AVI2VCD Program to decompress the AVI
2. Extract the AVI and WAV seperately with VirtualDub
3. Use TMPGEnc to Encode to VCD or SVCD
4. TMPGEnc to Cut into parts.
5. Use VcdEasy to make Image with Chapters.............

Works for me...............

You can try getting the latest DVD2SVCD don't worry about the name!
I does the trick for VCD and SVCD plus you can select the source, AVI, DVD or PVA it give good result and it's easy to use, nothing to learn, good for beginner
