Does anyone know a Compliance tester for DVD files that are ready to burn. I created a set of files via smartripper, infoedit, and after much correction, finally got Nero 5.5.8 to burn the DVD+RW. It gave me no errors and said nothing about compliance testing. On the first time I tried ot burn it, there were missing files, and the movie was too long for one DVD, and as a result I got lots of errors and it said the file was "Not compliant.
On the DVD+RW that was successful, it plays in my PC and on my Apex 1500, but will not even load into my Sylvania DVD player. Therefore I would like to have a second way to confirm that Nero made a compliant DVD.
Another point of information I found on the forum is that the Media header will show that the disk is a DVD+RW and this may cause my older player to reject the disk. I have the software to change the bits so it looks like a DVD-ROM which is what DVD's are supposed to be. This will be my nest test. However, I would still like to have a good compliance tester, to make sure that future burns are good before I make a coaster.
Others have suggested to me that I try burning in something other than Nero and see what happens. That will be yet another test.
Looking forward to suggestions. Thanks

check the DVD Players link on the toolbar to the left, and find your DVD player, and make sure it is actually capable of playing DVD+R/Ws...i know my old Toshiba SD-2109 won't play anything other than original DVDs, but it's understandable seeing how it is such an old player, bought it back when DVD players were still 300 bucks and somewhat new to the market
just make sure that your player itself is compatible -
I know the player is not capable of reading anything but pure DVD-ROM. I have the detailed manual and it is very specific about it. It even warns you not to try and play other things as this will "Damage" the player. What a bunch of S%^&&@@$.
What I'm looking for is a compatibility tester for the DVD files I create and to test them one last time before I burn them in Nero. I expect I will use many different guides to create DVD's and I plan to make several copies for all of my daughters and other friends. I want a last chance checker that I know will catch any glitches in any of the files.
I know that Nero does a check but "Just what does it check".
One other question. I've loaded DVD Bit Setter, which can force change the DVD+RW I've just made so that it has a bit setting of DVD-ROM. This should make the player at least load it. The question is, once I change that bit, will Nero still recognize it as a DVD+RW and therefore be able to erase it????? so I can use it again??? Anyone know anything about DVD Bit Setter."Technology",...It's what keeps us all moving forward.
