Dear friends,

I'm a user of a Pinnacle DV500 plus in Germany. I've got a lot of old VHS tapes in PAL standard which should be converted to SVCD to save them for the future.

I tried to capture them with the DV500 plus within Premiere 6.5 with the included MPEG Encoder and I also tried to capture the video file with DVTools from Pinnacle.

But I'm still afraid about the terrible quality when I watch the results on my DVD player or on PowerDVD. For example I've got a old spot made by myself. There are two crawls on it and it looks fine on tv.
But after capturing with Pinnacle DVTools the preview in TMPEG looks very terrible. It seems like there are problems with interlacing.

I used the setting "frame b first" in TMPEG. I'm thinking it should be ok because it is a video source and it is interlaced. And I would lose half of the tv lines when I select "no interlace". Am I right?

Is there anyone with the same card who made perfect looking SVCD's?

Many thanks!
