  1. i was wondering if anyone knew what this was? the longer my captures are in vdub the larger this gets? i feel a need to correct whatever its telling me to adjust (and the audio does seem a little out of sync w/ these numbers increasing). the picture below doesnt show it too bad (being a very short capture... but you get the idea.

does anyone know what this means and how to correct it? ive tried virtual dubs website, the help files, etc.. and no answers?
    thanks for any help

This tracks the ammount of difference between your video capture device and your audio capture device.

For the most part video is 29.97 ( unless you are taking VHS and the signal gets worn over time ). Your audio card cannot always provice you with perfect 44,100 samples/sec. Virtual dub keeps track of everything based on the audio rate and then just adds duped or dropped frames to keep up with it.

From your picture it's apparent that your audio device is capturing almost 100 samples/second too many. Over time this will mean that vdub will have to insert duped frames for the audio and video to stay within sync.

It uncorrectable, it's just your hardware.

Almost every system where the audio and video are seperate systems has some sort of drift in the capture.

  5. ya my main concern here is to keep the audio and video in sync... the longer the capture goes the more out of sync it gets (slowly but surely)... in 45minutes the "VT Adjust" will be up to +300. im still pretty unclear what this means. i understand a can't correct it but when i re-encode... or in any of my settings is there anyway to insure that the an adjustment is made to make sure that the audio and video are back on track?
    i appreciate your help
    thanks

VirtualDub should by default ( I think it's been a while since I touched any settings ) keeps the audio and video in sync.

Check out the documentation for the fix.

You may also want to try a Virtual Dub modification, Virtual Dub Synch (http://www-user.rhrk.uni-kl.de/~dittrich/sync/), which is supposed to handle audio/video synch in a more sophisticated way.
