  1. I have a DivX file and vobsub subs that I would like to burn to DVD. Is there a way to do this *without* burning the subtitles into the video? I guess I could convert the subs to SSA format and use VirtualDub and TMPGEnc to burn the subs into the video, but would like to avoid that -- i.e. keep the subs switchable on/off on the DVD. Any ideas?

You can use scenarist, dvdmaestro or reeldvd (maybe also pinnacle impression dvd-pro) but they are kinda expensive($400-$50000). Convert the subtitles to dvd format with maestrosbt or some other subtitle converter/renderer.

Ifoedit supports dvd authoring and subtitles but I don't know if it is possible to convert text/vobsub subtitles to the ifoedit subtitle format.
