  1. Hi all,

I'm creating a SVCD using TMPGEnc and the 2-pass VBR method.

The movie plays ok in my Mustek DVD player, but even if the movie has 50mins, the player reports that it has 37mins or so ...

If i'm encoding the video using the CBR method, the player reports the duration correctly.

Does anyone know why is this happening?

    Thanx.

It may be your DVD player, or the way you are encoding/burning it. I suggest you lookup your specific DVD player in the DVD players section, and make sure you read all of the reports and comments. For instance, concerning a Mustek DVD-V520 "Jim" reported "...Sometimes there are little problems with fast forwrd or time count. Maybe it depends on the burning software."

  3. Yep, i've read them, but besides "Jim", no one reported such a thing.

I'm encoding it with TMPGEnc, with no aditional options selected (i'm using the wizard) and burning it with Nero.

Should i try anything else or maybe it's my player, which cannot fully support VBR for SVCDs?

Does this happen for any of you with other brands of DVD players?

  4. Many players have trouble handling VBR discs. For example my Philips DVD 723 plays VCD ok (with time counter) but VBR SVCDs are played wihtout counter (just written --:--)
