  1. i dunno if this goes here, so if not, move it please.

how do i rip a vcd? is there a program i can use like ripping a dvd? i try sending the .dat file from the MPEGAV folder to my documents folder and sometimes it works, and sometimes it wont. sometimes when i extract it, this is when it doesn't work, i try to convert the dat file to mpg and i get a error midway through conversion with vcdgear. or i will rename the file from .dat to .mpg and try to re-encode with tmpegenc and it starts off with little green squares. or i will just rename it from .dat to .mpg and it wont burn. anyone know what to do?

  2. if you want to make a copy of the vcd, you can use nero's cd cop software (cd-to-cd)

if you want to copy it to your harddrive, just use windows explorer and copy it to your hard drive. the .dat file will play in media player as is. you can rename it to .mpg without any problems. if you really want to be sure, you should use vcdgear (and it's gui) to make it into a real mpg w/o the vcd headers.

however, you should be able to burn the .dat as a vcd in nero. if not, you should use vcdgear and convert the .dat into a true .mpg and then burn it as vcd in nero (using nero's vcd template... NOT as a data disc)
