  1. I'm using 100 min Rimax CD-Rs (875 mb) to burn SVCDs with Nero. As my burner is a Yamaha 8824, it only writes up to 88:30 mins, which in mode 1 means some 760 mb. But as SVCDs are written in XA mode, CD-R capacity grows up to 864 mb.

I created a MPEG2 file of 847 mb, so that it would fit on this CD. But when burning with Nero, the Compilaton info tells that it is using 969 mb! Obviously, there is no way to go. I updated to the latest Nero (5.5.9.17), but still no solution. Am I missing something?

  2. If you don't multiplex your MPEGs specifically for VCD / SVCD pack size, the authoring program will attempt to "pad" the mpeg to fit (i.e., add null data). This will lead to "bloating" of the MPEG.

To avoid this, use bbMPEG to remux your MPEGs using the SVCD settings beforehand.

    Regards.

  3. Thanx vitualis!

Yeah, I found the reason finally! As I'm using TMPGEnc for encoding the videos, the point I was missing was I didn't select "MPEG-2 VBR (SVCD)" in the settings, but thanks God was resolved with a De-multiplex and a Multiplex.
