  1. I'm following the guidelines and using AIW 128 w/ TMPGENc and SpruceUp. But can't get two hours of programming on a single DVDR. When I'm converting my BETA tapes to DVD I can barely get on 1 hour 2 minutes. What gives is 4.7GB not enough?
By the time I add menus and graphics and using MMC 7.7 under a Win2K environment what gives?
I'm doing everything by the book. Am I the only one getting these results?
Is it possible to get more time and still keep the compatibility?

  2. Have you used a bitrate calculator, to determine what bitrate to use so your video will fit.

The higher the bitrate you use, the less video you can fit on your DVD

  3. Using the VCDHELP bitrate calculator, with an audio bitrate of 224, average video bitrate is 4861, to get 120min on a 4.7GB disc. I would suggest using 4500 to make sure it fits ok.

  4. You can get 12 h or more on DVDR and still maintain compatibility. (I don't say, it will look nice). IIRC SpruceUP allows PCM (uncompressed) audio only and this eats ~1.5Mbps. To get 2 h of video You have to use avg. combined datarate not more than 5.2Mbps. Leaving some for multiplexing overhead and menus, 5Mbps. Minus PCM audio, 3.5Mbps remains. With MPEG Lev.2 (or AC3) audio higher video bitrates are possible. (3.6Mbps+320kbps audio give 2.5 h for me)
