Why would you want to make it look legit ? I started out thinking like that but when it comes down to it, if you want to see the legit menus, then play the legit dvd. If you want to see the movie, who cares what the menu looks like. I buy dvd's for the movie, not for the menus (case in point...anyone seen the Spider-man menus

i would like to know how you did it?any thoughts?
menu 600mg,vobs 6800 mgs, stripping all still
over 5000 mgs,did u drop stuff out?or did u recode?
menu is monster there, did u split to 2 discs?how much
room u have left??? just find the vts_0x_0.vob -
for me, whenever I did decide to leave the menus in I would re-encode the main movie to fit...never touched the menus. Most times you can't tell the movie is running at 4000kbps rather than the more regular 6000. I've even bumped down to 3500kbps without and major problems (the exception is Hannibal....I re-encoded that to 1/2 D1...still looks good though)
Now though I just re-encode the movie (if needed) and just put that on the DVD with nothing else (except chapters). you can squeeze more bitrate in if you leave menu's out. Most of the transitions serve no usefull function and in some cases are a pain in the bum.
The only exceptions to cutting off the menu's is if the source DVD is DVD-5 (like 5th Element)
The novelty of menus soon wears off though....
