Hi,

This probably has been asked a thousand times. I'm trying to capture a wedding video for my brother in law with my Studio DC10+ capture card.

I capture using the 'best' settings in Studio DC10+, which is 720x540 at 7.4:1 (3000 kb/s) with a SVHS cable.

Then I want to convert the .avi files to DVD. For testing I'm using Tempgenc and IfoEdit. With Tempgenc I choose video only mpeg-2 at 720x576, 4:3 display, 2-pass VBR, MP@ML, PAL, Interlace bottom field first, at high quality. The resulting file I convert to a VOB file using IfoEdit 0.95.

The problem is that the quality is rather poor. The screen is either flickering or there is a distinct combing effect which I got rid of after selecting interlace instead of progressive. Playback on my monitor looks much better dan on my TV.

Should I capture at different resolutions, or do I need to use different settings/programs?

If i get the settings right I want to edit the movie in Premiere and use a frame server to export to .m2v

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
