The new Pioneer 4x DVD burner can burn normal CDs at 16x... but does anyone know if it is compatable with overburning 99 minute cds?

I guess you mean the Pioneer A05?
A04 is a 2x burner.
This review found out that A05 can burn 99min CDR correctly but it can't read them...

Just in case you did actually mean the A04/104,
I can tell you that it burns and reads 99min CDRs without a problem - unlike the new 105!

Hey Sefy!
I don't usually take a look at the CD/DVD writer chart, else I would have added the info myself - sorry about that
I can confirm that my Pioneer 104 can read and burn upto 99mins 05secs on Infiniti 99min CDRs (UK brand I think).
Have never come across 99mins CDRWs so I can't comment on the 104's functionallity there
FYI - the first test burns I did were running under firmware v1.20 and it performed like a dream ...... I have upgraded with every new firmware release and also haven't had a problem.
Hope that's enough info mate!

Sorry mate, can't really help you on that one
All I know is that it's got a 2MB cache and it implements some kind of 'Buffer Underrun Protection' ...... guess they don't feel the need to give it some fancy name like "Smart-Burn" or stuff like that!

I have a Pioneer 04 and both Nero and NTI CD-Maker say it has NO overburn capacity.
