  1. when using tmpgenc i know in the tutorial/walk-through on this site it says to use ntsc for "other" frame rates, but the movie is coming out all choppy. what can i do to get it to run smoothly. do i need to create a whole new template? do i need to convert it to divX first?

You can force it to 29.97 by choosing that in the framerate but it will fill the missing frames with dups so don't expect too much. The audio may also go out of synch. So test before you burn and use cdrw.
There's not much to do but then I can't do much anyway.

  3. oh yeah it gets all messed up. the movie plays like it's being fast forwarded. it's kinda funny, but frustrating as hell. does it have to be made to be a fps of 20+?

The problem will be with your standalone player. They usually expect some pretty standard framerates.

You could try changing it in vdub but then you may have to split the audio and video and then time the movie video and stretch the audio to match in tools like cooledit. Some users have posted this before on this site.

  5. well i see now what u mean. i set it to be 29 and it's workin' fine, but there's a purple discoloration that comes across the screen now in parts. it flickers on and off. i don't know how to get this to go away. it's not there when viewed in my divX player, but there when i view it in tmpgenc. is there a filter for this?

Check this post. If you want to read more stuff (now you will know all my trade secrets) just search the forum (the top right box) the word is "purple"

This and a few others showed up. I guess lots of people have had this problem.

I would try the last one first that is to move up the priority of the directshow filters but its up to you.
