  3. mats it messes up the sound, when i record my movie to video (the purpose of joining the two halves-during second half of movie the sound distorts-like a rapid squeaking you can still hear the sound but cant make out what people are saying-it only happens in the second half so i presume its something to do with joining them together

Try demuxing the MPEGs. Then open the MP2 (audio mpegs) in GoldWave and save them out as WAV. Reencode them with tooLame (or TMPGEnc) then multiplex the video and audio back before joining the whole thing. Or, you could join audio and video MPEGs separately and then multiplex. ANyhow, take a listen to the result after each step to try to locate where things go wrong. I've never heard of TMPGEnc messing audio like this (xcept intruducing out of sync problems), so I guess there's something wrong with your audio streams somewhere.

Yes - you find the MPEG Tools under the file menu in TMPGEnc. You can multiplex, demultiplex, cut and join.

Yes, that was one of the idéas. But, take a listen to the MP2 (audio) files before and after joining them. And pray that you wont get sync problems!

  10. demuxed the movie, converted the wavs from goldwave to mp2 and joined it all together-it works-no sync problems-the problem is this-when i use windows media player & tv tool to output my home movie about 55 mins in (and its about the same time EVERYTIME! lol) it distorts the sound-thought it might be that scene so tried recording just that scene and the sound is fine so its not the movie file ive established, any ideas anyone?
cheers guys-losing hair i am! lol
