  1. A friend of mine wants to have his ntsc video's on ntsc format onto DVD.

However, my JVC s-vhs vcr will only allow me to display ntsc video's on pal format.... (or is it possible to let it keep ntsc...and capture it in ntsc with pinnacle dv500?). My vcr type is the S7500 and the S6500.

What to do if I want to transcode the pal movie to ntsc? (how to do it...)

  2. i think PAL VCR's playing back NTSC haphazardly convert the tape to PAL..

saying this, though, once i tried to dub an NTSC tape playing in my PAL machine to another PAL tape, and it didn't work very well.. the picture jumped and rolled all the time.

your best bet to do this is import or find online somewhere a true NTSC VCR.

With my Win TV PCI and dedicated WDM drivers, I did this feat.Setting the BT chip to PAL60 and capturing with AVI-IO worked. The problem is the size of the resulting avi (only uncompressed YUV2 worked without dropped frames).I had to capture in pieces, compressing them with V-Dup (to mjpeg) and finally converted them to NTSC mpeg-2.
The only difference between APL 60 anD NTSC is the carrier-frequency, which doesn't matter, once you converted the footage from VHS to avi.Other NTSC features (framesize and framerate are preserved)
