playing divx prob on new comp

i just built my new comp. p4 2.8 512 ram... installed xp, and now i noticed i am unable to play some of my divx movies... i tried ace megapacks and nimo and the movies wouldn't work at all, windows would just give a critical error, then i manually installed 3.11, 4.12, and 5.02 and got the movies to barely work on divx player alpha. if i tried to skip, it would freeze and no sound would come. please, desperately need help, i have so many movies that i can't play

Which video card did you put in it? Did you get the newest drivers for it? Did you install all of the chipset drivers that came with the motherboard?

yes, i installed the latest chipset drivers and have a geforce 4 ti 4600 video card w/ latest drivers installed

Im having major codec problems..please let me know if you figure out the best ones to use for XP SP1 ...NIMO is a pile of crap for SP1...it gives me like 90 IGNORE errors whilst installing it..
