  1. Ever since i got my Pioneer DVDR A04, several months ago, everything has been OK. But today, after installing Pinnacle Express, everytime I try to use the DVDdrive for anything (even reading audio CDs) my PC crashes ! Blue screen with error message 'exception OE occurred at 0028:C1C2830B in VxD scsi1hlp(03)+0000058B....
I have since uninstalled Pin Express and cleaned its reg entries - still no luck. Can anyone help ?

It sounds like Windows got Fubar'd when you installed pinnicle express. If it were a drive error I would think that Windows what just give an access error and not the BSOD. This seems extreme but try reinstalling Windows and see if that fixes the problem. If it doesn't then I would say the drive is dead.

  3. I have had a A03 for 3 months without a problem, burning with ulead and Nero. I recently installed Spruce up and since then I have had disks not being recognised for reading but no problem writing. Tonight if I put a disk in the drive I get almost the same message as Mr Mojo . Windows says that the drive is working fine. I have uninstalled the Spruce up and PowerDVD and upgraded to a latter PowerDVD but the problem remains. Could be coinsidense that I have also being changing software like Mr Mojo, also could be coinsidense that both our drives died in the same way, I just wonder if the problem is down to too much software tring to control the drive. Ill try a few things and report back.

  5. This same thing happened to me after I installed Nero's Image drive (a vitual dvd/cd-rom drive) and any time I inserted a DVD (commercial movie) and WinDVD tried to start up, I got the same blue screen and error. I went into the IOSYSBUS directory or whatever it's called where the offending VXD file lived and I renamed the file scsihlp.vxd.bkup or something to that effect.

Everything is fine now. I burn CDs/DVDs without problems. I just can't use the Image drive and Daemon tools doesn't work either, but I'm not missing them.

(Anyone know a different/better way? I'm definitely willing to give it a shot.)

  6. Vidkid, I think you have sorted my problem. I have renamed the file and smart ripper can now see the drive again, powerdvd can too. I thnk the problem was caused when spruce up loaded WinDVD as its preview software THanks very much mate I was about to take an hammer to the PC.
