Hi, I am having a problem with nero. I used to be able to burn 800MB SVCDs on my old computer with nero but on my new one i can't. I usually just worked around it by using ulead dvd MF, but now it locks up when i try to burn for some reason. So i tried nero and it says it is too big. So does anyone know how to get nero to accept 800mb files. I also tried Ulead DVD WS but it will only allow a bitrate of up to 2600 and i have a mpeg with a bitrate of 2900. Thanks for any help.

  2. Hoping it will help, here's my experience:
    - As long as I give Nero mpeg2 files that are compliant to Svcd standards, Nero will burn them correctly in Mode2 Form2 > ~800Mb disk space available on 80min cd-r's
    - If mpeg2 files (that's - unfortunately - my case) exceed those Svcd standards (for example, due to too high bitrates), telling Nero to ignore it will reduce the disk space available > only ~700Mb on 80min cd-r's

Anyone knows how to solve this?
    Bye, Antonello

P.S. I partially solved using Ulead Movie Factory (which also gives nice menu options) but such software seems to dislike bitrates over ~3500Kbps, resulting in choppy playback on my Mustek 520
On the other side, such files burnt with Nero will play smoothly but with the above said ~700Mb space limitation.

One trick is to use a tool such as VCDEasy to create a CD image (cue/bin) on your hard disk first.

Then use the Nero 'Burn Image' option - this way nero is ignorant of what it's burning and doesn't try to apply any standards.

Make sure that that you set the standards when creating the image, so that you player will accept it.

Also by creating the image first you can use other tools such as 'Daemon Tools' to test the VCD or SVCD before you commit it to CD.

  4. You know what you could try is going in the advanced settings of Nero, by closing the wizard and then from the side choose the VIDEO CD option and uncheck the

    Create Standard CD &
    CDI Application.

Add your movie and it might work.
